Some of the nearby attractions include Ski Apache, the Smokey Bear Historical Park & Museum in Capitan and hiking in the Lincoln National Forest.
Also close by is the Valley of Fires Recreation Area near Carrizozo, Three Rivers Petroglyph Site and wineries near Tularosa, the Lodge Resort at Cloudcroft, Fort Stanton, and the town of Lincoln, which is famous for the Lincoln County War and is the historical home of Billy the Kid.
The White Sands National Monument and the New Mexico Museum of Space History are in nearby Alamogordo. And, we can't forget Ruidoso which has something for everyone whether it be restaurants, casinos, horse racing (when in season), golf, beautiful drives,shopping, and concerts.
After enjoying some of the nearby attractions of this beautiful area, you may want to just relax in the park enjoying awesome mountain views, wildlife, and star studded nights by your campfire away from the hustle and bustle of town.

FROM ROSWELL . . .
Traveling West from Roswell, go to Hondo, turn right on Highway 380. Go to Capitan, turn left on Highway 48, go approximately 9 miles. Turn right on Highway 37. Park is 300 yards on the left.
FROM EL PASO . . .
Go to Alamogordo on Highway 54. At Tularosa, take Highway 70. Go to Ruidoso. Turn left on Sudderth Drive. Go to Mechem Drive. Turn right, go approximately 9 miles. Turn left on Highway 37. Park is 300 yards on the left.
FROM ALBUQUERQUE . . .
Take Interstate 25 South. Turn right on Highway 380 at San Antonio. Go through Carrizozo, apprximately 8 miles. Turn right onto Highway 37. Approximately 12 miles. Park is on the right, 300 yards before Highway 48.
